Spine Slug is type of enemy that Ori encounters in Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Spine slugs can be found in Inkwater Marsh, Kwolok's Hollow, and The Wellspring.

Description[edit | edit source]

Spine Slugs are a color between pink and purple. They have Purple spots on their back, with spines spouting out of them. The projectiles they fire are purple and leave a trail of light behind them.

Behavior[edit | edit source]

Spine Slugs will crawl along the ground or any other flat surface, moving back and forth in a pattern and firing three purple glowing projectiles every three seconds, shuddering and slightly swelling while they do so. Upon nearing the player, they will follow the player slowly, shooting spines that arc up and eventually fall down. When Ori comes in contact of them, they will take 8 damage points and unless they move away from the spine slime, Ori will keep taking damage until they die.

It is possible, though unlikely, for the spine slime to fall or bump into hazards when moving in said pattern. This can be caused by the player bashing it into an area near a hazard.

Spine slugs have 14 health points and can be instantly killed in contact with water, spikes, lasers, or other hazards. They can also be killed with three swings of a torch, a smash of a Spirit Smash, a shockwave of a Spirit Smash, one Spike, three hits of the Spirit Edge, or three arrows of the Spirit Arc, and can be bashed.

The spine slug moves slowly, inching forward by stretching out and recoiling, like a snail or slug. It's projectiles are faster, arcing up and falling down quickly. Spine slugs do not pose much of a threat, but more of a annoyance, provided that the player is familiar with the controls.

Projectiles deal 4 damage each, and cannot be bashed. They leave a trail of purple light behind them. The trail cannot harm Ori.

Spine Slugs yield five to ten Spirit Light upon death.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Though spine slugs have 14 health, the damage they take when they fall into water, spikes, or other hazards is shown as ten, but they still die nevertheless even with four health left.
