'You've gained Light Burst! To use this ability, either press or hold LB in order to cast Light Burst.'
Ori and the Blind Forest

Overview[]

Light Burst is considered the 10th skill in Ori and the Blind Forest, and the second new skill introduced in the Definitive Edition by itself. Light Burst is learned through Sol's light in the Lost Grove.

Tapping LB (on Xbox One) or R (on PC) will cause Ori to throw an orb of Light out. This orb will roll or bounce for a very short distance before stopping, exploding shortly after. It will explode immediately upon hitting any surface or object that causes damage. Its burst can also deal damage to enemies and break barriers designed to be broken by Charge Flame.

Holding the respective button can be used to aim the Light Burst, from which a faint arc will be drawn on screen representing the path the throw will take. This is very helpful for hitting hard to reach targets.

Aiming and firing Light Burst onto special lanterns will light them, revealing secret passages previously blocked by unbreakable barriers. Ori can Bash off of Light Burst's projectiles, which will detonate them upon completing the bash. This can be used to gain the additional height needed to access collectables without using Charge Jump.

Trivia[]

  • Light Burst is one of the abilities that returns in Will of the Wisps, however, its once glassy projectile was replaced with a fireball, and its energy cost and mechanics were altered as well.
