FAMILY TREE

this is Ku's family tree. Her mother is Kuro, the main enemy in Ori and the Blind Forest. Ku's biological brother is Ori, knowing that he is male because he is turned into a Spirit Tree, not a Spirit Willow. Ku also has a adoptive mother named Naru, who eventually dies of old age.
PERSONALITY
Ku is known to be very loyal and sacrificial, as when she sacrificed herself for Ori when being caught in the Silent Woods.
APPEARANCE
Ku looks like a small purple owl with three feathers on her head. She had small claws, most likely from young age. Ku has a disabled wing, and so she cannot fly without the help of Kuro's feather. Her eyes are amber, and she is cute. Ku has a black beak, and most of her head is white.
HISTORY
Ku was first mentioned in Ori and the Blind Forest, when Ori found her egg in Kuro's Nest. In Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Ori and Ku are separated by a storm during Ku's first flight. Ori is told that Ku has fallen far to the east, and that the Silent Woods hold her now. When meeting Kwolok, Kwolok tells Ori that the only way to the Silent Woods is to teach the Wellspring's waters to flow again. During Ori's visit to the mill, one of his friends meet in the Wellspring Glades. Opher tells Ori that he might go to the Wellspring Library and that he can meet him there.

Trivia

  • Ku was originally meant to permanently die after her encounter with Shriek in the middle of the story. This didn't sit right for playtesters who grew to like Ku, and after story changes, Ku's condition was changed to that of a coma, but it still kept the story forward. In the end, bringing Ku back to life avoided undermining Kuro’s sacrifice in Blind Forest and struck a bittersweet balance.[1]
