"At one point, we had a "freeze" upgrade that let you turn enemies into ice blocks. They'd fall to the ground and become bashable cubes which can be thrown through the air, slide across the ground, and block lasers."
- Michael Gagno from Moon Studios.
freeze enemies into bashable ice blocks . According Michael Gagno, a level designer of Ori and the Blind Forest, Freeze was "Lots of Fun", but it simply didn't mix well with the rest of the game. So Freeze was unfortunately cut, and puzzles which required it were reworked to use moveable rocks instead.
Gagno also confirms that there were many other skills/abilities which were abandoned, but that Freeze was one of the bigger examples.
